A Review of the Generation and Textual Logic of Contemporary Japanese Family Animation
Liu Tianhao, Hou Runyi
Abstract:As an extension of the long history and tradition of Japanese family genre film and television, Japanese family genre animation has a profound cultural and audience background with an international reputation. The generation logic of contemporary Japanese family animation is guided by the narrative theory of family live action movies and TV shows, using abstract language unique to animation to showcase Japan's complex family relationships, identities, and culture. From"Cherry Maruko", "Crayon Shin chan" to "Spy Play", the transformation of Japanese family landscapes has gradually integrated into the world, and contemporary family anime has sparked another wave of global dissemination. However, the expansion of the concept of virtual family and the idealized vision cannot conceal the shrinking of real families in the context of a "society without opportunities".
