Mythological Metaphor and Historical Memory:From the Legend of Shiwei in Pre-Qin Dynasty

Abstract:The concept of Shiwei in the pre-Qin literature is fragmented, which accords with the historical memory construction of the two dynasties of Xia and Shang about star observation,clan migration, and national rise and fall, and the mythological narration of Shiwei lifts heaven and earth points to the metaphorical thinking that precedes the logical concept and expression.The legend of Shiwei integrates multiple historical memories into one, through the reflection of mythological metaphorical thinking, personality and spirit coexist, and historical figures and mythological figures are both present. Shiwei legend in literature is the coexistence of history and myth, which coincided with Cassirer's theory of mythological symbolism in the philosophy of symbolic form.
