Long Qixin
Abstract:Doming Lam's Chinese orchestral work Autumn Execution successfully integratestraditional Chinese musical elements such as pentatonic scales, Beijing opera gongs and drums, andopera recitation with modern techniques such as complex rhythms, orchestration, and textures.Drawing on the narrative mode of traditional episodic novels, it constructs a five-movementframework based on the concepts of "beginning, continuation, transformation, and combination". Itdeeply conveys the tragic power and social-critical spirit of the work through instrumental solos thatmimic human voices and dynamic sound effects. The work pioneered the creative paradigm of"symphonic opera", providing a successful model of "based on tradition and facing the world" for thecreation of ethnic symphonies. It also greatly expanded the expressive boundaries of modern ethnicmusic through its compositional techniques and aesthetic connotations, and provided profoundinspiration for contemporary music creation.
