Abstract: In the wave of digital preservation of cultural heritage, the protection and developmentof traditional villages have begun to adopt advanced media and technologies to quickly collect, organize, and display data on historical buildings. Cultural heritage villages, as carriers of urbanculture, possess profound historical and artistic value. This paper, based on a comparison of thearchitectural preservation integrity of two traditional water villages, Tai O Village in Hong Kongand Banghuwei in Guangzhou, constructs two digital technology paths: "record-based" and"representation-based" reconstruction. Through a comparison of well-preserved and severelydamaged historical settlements, the applicability and effectiveness of matching different digitalreconstruction strategies to various objects are verified, providing a viable basis for selectingtechnical paths and methodological support for the digital preservation of traditional villages.
