Abstract: This paper aims to explore the profound and unique historical connection and culturalinterconstruction between Wen Tianxiang, a national hero of the Southern Song Dynasty, andChaozhou's maritime culture. Although Wen Tianxiang's activities in Chaozhou were brief, hisanti-Yuan deeds, the cultural heritage he left behind, and the core spiritual value of "haoranzhengqi"(vast, righteous spirit) he embodied have deeply integrated with the long-standingmaritime culture of the Chaozhou region. This paper first outlines the dualistic characteristics andcontemporary development of Chaozhou's maritime culture, then elaborates from fourdimensions: historical geography, spiritual values, literary narratives, and contemporary practices. It argues that the relationship between Wen Tianxiang and Chaozhou's maritime culture is notmerely a simple historical intersection, but rather an organic cultural fusion based ongeographical affinity, rooted in spiritual resonance, and realized among the people, which has collectively shaped the unique spiritual temperament and cultural identity of the Chaozhoupeople.
